New Radius Authentication & 50-Percent-Off NAC Module Sale
Are you in need of Radius authentication? Well, NetEqualizer is now proud to offer the option to do authentication with Radius servers. This is a special feature improvement available with our network access control (NAC) module.
In addition, to mark the availability of this option, we are offering a 50-percent discount on NAC module pricing through the end of the month with the purchase of any new NetEqualizer (for a full price list, click here).
Here's how the Radius server authentication works.
You'll need an existing Radius server along with your customer details which should include the speed of their connection and the duration of their service (see article below on Visp.net or call us if you do not already have a Radius server set up).
The NetEqualizer will sit between users and your core network/internet connection. When the NetEqualizer sees access to your network coming in, we will authenticate with your Radius server in one of several ways -- MAC address, IP address, or username and password. If for some reason the user does not authenticate, we will send them to a Web page of your design for further information about getting new service.

New Five-Gigabit NetEqualizer 4000 Released
Yes, you heard correctly. We have made a leap on our top-end model from one gigabit to five gigabits. In fact, this new unit can sustain a constant four megabits up and four megabits down at the same time for a total of eight megabits. It also handles up to 30,000 users.
Burstable Internet Connections - Are They of Any Value?
A burstable Internet connection conjures up the image of a super-charged Internet reserve, available at your discretion during a moment of need, like pushing the gas pedal to the floor to pass an RV on a steep grade. Americans find comfort knowing that they have that extra horsepower at their disposal. The promise of power is ingrained in our psyche, and is easily tapped into when marketing an Internet service. However, if you stop for a minute, and think about what is a bandwidth burst, it might not be a feature worth paying for in reality.
Here are some key questions to consider:
Is a burst one second, 10 seconds, or 10 hours at a time? This might seem like a stupid question, but it is at the heart of the issue. What good is a 1-second burst if you are watching a 20-minute movie?

Tips & Tricks
We're often asked how to make the NetEqualizer admin secure https. So, here's the answer...
First, login via SSH or the console directly as root.
Run the following commands:
apt-get update
apt-get install stunnel4
Now, edit /etc/default/stunnel4 and set ENABLED to 1.
Next, edit /etc/stunnel/stunnel.conf so it looks like:
[https]
accept = 443
connect = 80
TIMEOUTclose = 0
And leave everything else alone in there and save it.
