NetEqualizer To Achieve Two-Gigabit Speeds
APconnections recently announced that our NetEqualizer will soon be capable of achieving speeds of up to two gigabits through the use of multi-core technology.
This newest release, which is currently being tested in our lab, will handle up to 30,000 users. While the expected release will be in the first half of 2010, this roll-out date may be bumped up if demand and interest dictates.
The upcoming release is the most recent in a string of innovations APconnections has brought to NetEqualizer users over the past several years. Since our founding in 2003, we've ensured that customers have affordable access to cutting edge technology through the evolution of the NetEqualizer product line.
The network optimization industry and IT fields are constantly changing and network administrators are presented with new challenges on a regular basis. Therefore, we see it as our job to make sure those challenges are met.
In addition to the ongoing development of new NetEqualizer models, we're doing our best to make sure existing customers are not left behind. Through our NetEqualizer Software Subscription (NSS) program, users have access to the most recent product improvements without exorbitant licensing costs.
So, keep an eye out for the upcoming-two gigabit NetEqualizer release, and for more details, contact us at 1-800-918-2763 or admin@apconnections.net.
NetEqualizer Lifetime Buyer Protection Policy Announced
This week, APconnections is announcing the launch of the NetEqualizer lifetime buyer protection policy. In the event of an un-repairable failure of a NetEqualizer unit, customers will have the option to purchase a replacement unit at a 50-percent discount off of the list price.
To qualify, you must be the original owner of the NetEqualizer unit. Shipping is not included in the discounted price. Purchasers of the one-year NetEqualizer hardware warranty (NHW) will still qualify for replacement at no charge during the first year of ownership. For more details, contact us at 1-800-918-2763 or admin@apconnections.net.
Did You Know...?
...You can use any existing NetEqualizer model to redirect unknown users to a Web site of your design. This is great for delinquent accounts or for areas where you get walk-ins to your coverage area. This redirection can be done by MAC address or IP address.
Furthermore, you can block any user on your network by setting a connection limit of zero for their IP.
Note: Additional support fees may apply to set this feature up.

NetEqualizer Field Guide to Network Capacity Planning
I recently reviewed an article that covered bandwidth allocations for various Internet applications. Although the information was accurate, it was very high level and did not cover the many variances that affect bandwidth consumption. Below, I'll break many of these variances down, discussing not only how much bandwidth different applications consume, but the ranges of bandwidth consumption, including ping times and gaming, as well as how our own network optimization technology measures bandwidth consumption.
E-mail
Some bandwidth planning guides make simple assumptions and provide a single number for E-mail capacity planning, oftentimes overstating the average consumption. However, this usually doesn't provide an accurate assessment. Let's consider a couple of different types of E-mail.
